Why Vital Proteins?
When I started my gut health journey, I used Great Lakes Hydrolyzed Gelatin powder. When Vital Proteins came on my radar, I made the switch after my first canister. The big things for me were the fact that it doesn’t taste like anything AND that I started seeing results, specifically in my skin and nails.
Vital Proteins is great because their products are quality. The collagen is sourced from grass-fed cows, in Brazil, without use of any hormones. The product is a bit pricier, but I think the quality is worth it.

Collagen or Gelatin?
The Peptides and Gelatin have similar amino acid profiles and offer very similar nutritional benefits. Both are virtually odorless and tasteless, making them extremely versatile (source).
The biggest difference is that gelatin will gel in cold liquid, the peptides will dissolve in hot or cold. This is why I like the peptides so much!
How do we use Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides?
So glad you asked. The 6 suggestions below are my favorite ways to use Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides. This is by no means an exhaustive list. The Vital Proteins blog or Instagram is a great way to get more ideas!
Warm Lemon Water
Another thing I talk about all the time. If you don’t drink warm lemon water, get your life together and start. Right now. Once you start drinking warm lemon water / If you already drink warm lemon water, start adding at least 1 scoop of collagen per cup. Super simple and kicks your lemon water up just a little bit.
My Favorite: Lemon ice cubes, water, 1 – 2 scoops Collagen Peptides
Coffee
Warm lemon water was my gateway into gelatin / collagen. Coffee was next. When I dealt with adrenal fatigue last year, my tolerance for coffee went way down. I wasn’t able to drink coffee for a good couple months. I don’t really drink coffee for the caffeine, it’s more the comfort and the taste and the love. Drinking a straight cup of coffee doesn’t always agree with my body. Adding collagen peptides helps cut back on coffee jitters.
My Favorite: Hot – coffee, 1 – 2 scoops Collagen Peptides, ghee, coconut oil // Iced – little warm water + 1 scoop Collagen Peptides, 1 – 2 pumps blueberry syrup, iced coffee
Tea
If you aren’t a fan of coffee, adding a scoop to your tea is another great option.
My Favorite: Peppermint Tea or Nettle Tea
Smoothies
In the Elliott apartment, we go through phases with smoothies. Sometimes, we can do smoothies for dinner every night for a week! That means, we need Super Smoothies – packed with all kinds of nutrient dense ingredients. Because 2 scoops of the collagen peptides has 18g of protein, it’s the perfect addition to any smoothie.
My Favorite: Almond milk, Vital Proteins Peptides, Greens Powder, Chia Seeds, Blueberries
Overnight Oats / Oatmeal
I like my oats like I like my smoothies – loaded with nutrient dense ingredients! I usually add a scoop to any type of oats for a little extra protein boost.
My Favorite: Overnight Oats: oats, almond milk, Collagen Peptides, (greens powder), flaked coconut, raisins, chia seeds, cinnamon, pinch of salt // Oatmeal: same as overnight + a can of sardines
Pancakes / Waffles / Muffins
Maybe it should just be baked goods…but these are really the only baked goods I make. I added a scoop to my pancakes yesterday and usually as scoop to my waffle batter. Anytime I make muffins, I add a scoop for an extra protein boost. If you want a protein pancakes or waffles, just add 2 scoops!

…
How was your weekend?! I had such a great day on Friday! It was full, but relaxing and fun. The Hubs and I went shopping, I did a little work, got iced coffee! Saturday was an early morning workout, iced coffee and family pictures. On Thursday afternoon, Oscar got loose. We put a screen over our side door so we can get a little extra light and fresh air. He broke through and had a little stroll. Luckily, someone took him to the human society and we picked him up! Saturday, at the In-Laws, he somehow snuck out a slightly open screen door and was gone. He showed up dirty and wet (he went playing in the creek) at the neighbors house in the middle of taking photos. Needless to say, we’ve been hovering, overprotective parents since then. Sunday was church, food prep and relaxing at home!
SO, TELL ME:
Have you tried Collagen Peptides yet?!
What is your favorite way to use Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides?
What did you do this weekend?!
XOXO,
