Remember this our plan to heal our gut. Consult your doctor before beginning any program. Adjust to your own body and needs. We have done our own research and have come to these steps to help us in our journey to heal our stomach issues. Please do your own research before starting anything new. We are not really sure how long we plan to do this program. And over time we might be changing things depending on how our bodies are doing. We plan to share just about everything as we heal, so we apologize now if some things are TMI. We want to be honest as we are using our blog as our journal.
Happy Saturday Friends!
Hard to believe we have been doing this journey to heal our gut, other digestive issues and our acne (and other skin issues) for 8 days now! Crazy!
To be honest so far changing our eats has not been too much of a struggle. Though not enjoying our typical desserts has been.
But our struggle of figuring out our digestive and skin issues is just part of our story!
Remember whatever your current struggle is…it’s part of the whole story! Stay focused and positive! Your story is not finished yet! Keep going
I (Michelle) got up extra early (since we had to leave the house at 7am to get to expo) to do some planks and ab work. I did a five minute #plankworkout and some lying down leg raises and bridge. Very proud of myself for getting up and moving the body before standing all day.
I (Lori) did the #loveyourbody challenge from Tone it Up- Friday they wanted you to do cardio. I decided to do their HIIT the beach workout off their Beach Babe dvd. After that I did one round of their SunKissed Ab routine. Felt good to do a little interval cardio and burn out the abs! Starting to see changes in my body in terms of getting stronger and more defined!
Michelle Day 8 highlights:
I am still in Orlando for the Disney marathon weekend. Yesterday was the second day of the expo.
Before leaving the house to go to work I took my morning supplements – probiotic, l-glutamine mixed in water, and fish oil pills for me to take while traveling.
Sorry breakfast was pretty much the same thing as yesterday. Hard to really change things up too much when traveling. But actually I been loving this so I enjoy every bite even if it is the same. Enjoyed a few cups of black coffee and got ready to work!
My outfit for the day was of course Raw Threads attire. (Yesterday was one of our busiest days to date at an expo, a HUGE thank you to everyone who came to the booth to support my sister’s company, really appreciate it!)
Even though Lori and I are not really running much anymore, we still wear a lot of Raw Threads clothes because they are not for just runners! The clothes are for anyone wanting cute comfortable workout clothing!
Snacked on two bananas at the booth during the day. Barely had time to go pee all day long. Not complaining though, it was great (busy) day yesterday!
Disney marathon expo got over at 7pm, we cleaned the booth and restocked before heading out to enjoy dinner.
I did remember to take all my pills before dinner (l-glutamine mixed in water, fish oil, quercetin, licorice, digestive enzyme). Again like my breakfast, my dinner is very similar to Thursday nights. This time I sauteed some swiss chard and no parsnips fries. Enjoyed my last grass-fed burger, 1/2 avocado, about 2 tbsp coconut oil and the rest of my broccoli mash. And half head cooked chard and lots of sauerkraut. Delicious. So satisfying too! I also enjoyed a homemade margarita. Then it was bed time. I was tired and needed my energy for the last of expo.
I took the night off from putting magnesium oil on my legs.
Michelle: Day 8 recap –
Bathroom: some poop success! I would say in between a 2 and 3 stool.
Energy: felt good all day
Gas: not too much
Skin: a few pimples but they are small
Water intake – about 10 cups!
Lori: day 8 recap –
Took my morning probiotic, 1/2 tsp fermented cod liver oil/butter blend and l-glutamine
Breakfast- runny eggs with romaine and butternut squash. It was about 2 cups raw chopped romaine leaves that I sauteed in skillet with my 2 eggs (left one egg yolk raw), and 4oz roasted butternut squash all topped with cinnamon, turmeric and 1 tbsp coconut oil.
Enjoyed my cup of black coffee.
Once I started getting hungry it was juice time. My juice made about 16oz of fresh juice. I did half cucumber, fresh ginger, 1 beet, 4 carrots, 1/4 bulb fennel, 1 apple and lots of kale.
Love my beet based juices! So vibrant and pretty!
Instead of juicing my grapefruit like I did the other day I felt like chewing something. So I sliced my grapefruit up and enjoyed with my juice .
Few snacks of the day. Carrots with a little coconut oil. Pulp crackers topped with mustard and sauteed yellow summer squash. Strange but good.
Did some training with Jax before dinner.
Dinner highlight was sardines! Surprised how much Michelle and I are liking sardines. Here I did what Michelle and I usually do, mash up sardines with 1/2 avocado. This time I added in sauerkraut and horseradish mustard. So good! Love the additional protein and Omega 3’s that the sardines provide in my diet!
My dinner bowl: sardine avocado kraut mash, with a handful of butter lettuce, a good cup of roasted broccoli, half can of wild salmon, a little more sauerkraut and mustard. Topped with 1tbsp coconut oil and dulse flakes.
And here is Gary’s dinner, like I mentioned in video he usually eats what I eat. I added in some good carb – here I did butternut squash (plus added some olives). Besides that pretty much the same meal as mine, minus the sardines.
Gary and I also enjoyed some white wine with dinner.
Dessert was another carob sludge. I did 1 tbsp coconut oil, 2 tbsp water, 2 tbsp carob and 1 tbsp coconut flour. I know these sludges are weird, but it helps mentally satisfy my ‘want’ for a dessert. My cravings for dessert are not as bad as I thought they were going to be, but still feel like I need one.
Like Michelle, I took the night off from putting magnesium oil on my legs. Forgot to clean back.
Bathroom: bowel movement in the morning, stool was like a 3 I would say, somewhat easy to come out.
Energy: decent, felt focused all day
Gas: a little in the evening, stomach started to get a bloated and gassy, but not as bad as it used to
Skin: no major improvements, still dealing with back acne and rash
Water intake – almost 10 cups water (does not include juice)
Thanks everyone for the continued kind words! We are so happy to hear that everyone is loving the poop talk! Yay! Also, we are so happy to hear that many of you are taking the time to look at your diet and taking steps to help improve your overall health! Keep up the great work everyone!
Thoughts so far after 8 days of healing gut:
Each day luckily has been pretty good. No major complaints. We both have our issues that we are still figuring out, but know we will get there. We hope to share some progress pictures tomorrow for documentation. Like mentioned above, this struggle is just part of our story! More to come
Like I mentioned, still feeling like I need a dessert or something after dinner. That feeling is less intense but mentally still there. Which I am thinking that is ok. We both haven’t had too many other food cravings. Our appetites are still strong. We both feel the supplements we are taking are slowly starting to help with digesting our eats. We are excited to see what our next week is going to be like, as our gelatin gets here soon and eventually once Michelle is done traveling we hope to try bone broth.
Twins Question: Are you keeping up with drinking water? How do you track your water intake? Anyone tried gelatin before? Anyone else like sardines?
til next time,
xoxo
