Super Simple Homemade Bone Broth Soup- Heal Your Gut, Heal Your Symptoms!


Bone broth, it’s all the rage these days, right? Everyone and their moms are either making it or selling it. Today, you can even find it in the soup aisle of your local grocery store. While store bought bone broth is better than no bone broth, HOMEMADE bone broth is by far the best! Not only does it taste better, but it also has a higher nutrient content giving you the full benefits of helping heal your gut and your symptoms. But who wants to spend all day in the kitchen stewing up the brew? I can tell you I simply just don’t have the time. That’s why I’ve created this Super Simple Homemade Bone Broth Soup recipe you can make in the CROCKPOT! That’s right, chop it up, let it simmer and bang #bonebrothfordays!


Why is this new, dare I say it ‘superfood’ all the rage these days?


Bone Broth Soup

Well, multiple reasons actually.


The main reason being is the unique protein content, specifically high in collagen and abundant protein found in almost every part of the body. Collagen along with glutamine and zinc carnosine are essential components to helping rebuild connective tissues, crucial for joint and GUT health! These compounds are found in the joints, tendons, and marrow of animals. Drinking bone broth is a great way to get the most bio-available form of collagen from these animals.

The GUT- Why does it matter?


The gut is the doorway to your health.


It’s a complex system of organs (starting at your mouth and ending at your anus) that work together in a delicate fashion to ensure that you operate optimally.


The gut is responsible for taking the food we eat and turning it into the fuel we can use— the fuel that powers our bodies, our brains, and even our consciousness.


If there is a ‘kink’ in this desiccate chain, the whole system becomes compromised and sooner rather than later, you’re going to feel that effect. The effect often shows up as symptoms that many of us choose to ignore.

ALL these symptoms are your body’s way of trying to tell you something is not right. Think of it as a gentle tap on the shoulder with a sweet whisper saying, “Hey, I need some help here, can you give me a hand?”


Your body is smart and if you listen to it rather than ignore it the chances are high you’ll be in tip-top shape the majority of your life.


The problem comes when we ignore it, passing it off as a something annoying we want to go away.


The way we handle medical problems today is that we often cover up the symptom, instead of addressing the cause.


If you go to the doctor wanting to address a symptom, more likely than not, you’ll walk out with an expensive bill and a prescription of medicine promising all your worries will go away.


THE PROBLEM


Even if the symptoms go, you have never addressed what it was that caused the symptoms in the first place. More often than not if you don’t address the cause you are going to end up back in the same position or worse…


GUT HEALTH is more of an issue today than it ever has been before. There are a number of reasons for this increase and I have addressed in this in an earlier blog which you can see here.


So, long story short- Heal your gut, heal your symptoms.

Healing the gut and getting to the ROOT of your body’s symptoms do not happen overnight, but there are some things you can do today to implement the healing tomorrow.


One of which is BONE BROTH SOUP.


HOW TO MAKE SUPER SIMPLE HOMEMADE BONE BROTH SOUP (Chicken):


Ingredients:


3 lbs. chicken bones (the feet and the back are the best- MAKE SURE IT’S ORGANIC)


2 Large carrots


3 Stalks Celery


organic veggies

1 whole onion (quartered with skin on)


1 whole garlic (skin on)


1 bunch parsley


2 tbs. ACV or 1 lemon (important to pull the minerals from the bones)


1 tbs. turmeric


1 bay leaf


Sea Salt & Pepper to your taste


Water


1.) Place bones all ingredients in a large crockpot and fill with water until almost to the top


2.) Put the lid on and leave on low anywhere from 8-24 hours (amount of time depends on your crock pot temp and how much broth you want).


3.) Strain the broth, place in an airtight container and bam; you’re good to go!


The first time I made this, I cooked it wayyy too long and ended up with a condensed version of it. It was delicious and very gelatinous (which means lots of collagen!) After I had made one round, I put some fresh veggies along with more ACV and put it all back on for round two cooking about another 10 hours.


This ‘Simple Homemade Bone Broth Soup’ is going to contain much more nutrients than the store bought one you get off the shelf. However, having some bone broth is better than no bone broth at all.


Make sure to ALWAYS get ORGANIC whether you are purchasing from the store or making your own. Non-organic bones have been found to contain heavy metals and other chemicals you do not want to put in your body when you are trying to heal.
